Alexis Ortiz, LCSW (she/her)

Therapist

Alexis believes that clients are inherently resilient and bring their own life expertise to therapy. With this view, she works collaboratively with clients, utilizing evidence-based approaches to help them achieve personal empowerment. These approaches include improving coping mechanisms and emotion regulation, promoting healthy relationships and interpersonal skills, and finding hope for both the present moment and the future. Alexis’ approach is largely influenced by the idea that individuals are doing the best they can with what they have in any given moment, and their lives can be improved and enhanced by increasing psychological resources and skills, identifying and applying existing personal and environmental strengths, and improving protective factors.

She utilizes evidence-based modalities and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality. A Certified Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapist, Alexis uses a client-centered biopsychosocial approach in her work with adults, couples, and families. She specializes in crisis intervention, as well as treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, substance addiction, relationship issues, suicidal ideation and behaviors, symptoms of psychosis, and trauma-related disorders and responses.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a Minor in Psychology from Weber State University and a Master of Social Work with a Mental Health concentration from the University of Utah.
